Botox treatment remains the most commonly performed medical aesthetic treatment performed to effectively reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Wrinkles in the frown area, forehead and around the eyes are often the biggest concern as they are seen as ageing.
Anti-wrinkle injections use a small amount of the toxin ‘Botulinum Toxin Type A’ to relax the facial muscles and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Anti-wrinkle injections can be used alone to treat these areas but are also used in conjunction with dermal fillers for a full facial rejuvenation.
Gone are the days of the 'frozen' barbie doll look, so here at Clinic No 8 we believe in aiming to achieve a natural, fresh look.
Relax the facial muscles that cause lines and wrinkles
Essential prior to all Anti Wrinkle Treatments
POA. Full price available after assessment at consultation with our Nurse Prescriber.
Over time, the muscles in our face can cause lines and wrinkles to form, in particular in between our eyes. Botox is injected directly into the muscle using very fine needles. This temporarily blocks the nerve impulses to the muscles which have been injected, and therefore reduces the muscle activity which causes the lines to form.
Prior to all Botox treatments, a face to face consultation should be carried out by a fully qualified Prescriber, this is because Botox is a POM, Prescription Only Medication (General Medical Council, 2012). This is to ensure an accurate medical assessment is completed in order to assess your suitability and a prescription is written according to your individual needs.
At Clinic No 8, this is carried out by our Nurse Prescriber. Once your prescription has arrived, your treatment is performed by our Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner.
The treatment itself is relatively quick, taking just 15 -20 minutes to complete. The injections are very fine needles and there is no downtime required.
The risks associated with Botox treatment rare but the most common, minor risks include mild bruising and tenderness at the injection site. More serious less common risks include temporary drooping of the eyebrows or eyelids. All risks, benefits and alternative treatments will be discussed at your consultation.
You will start to see results 3-5 days following your treatment with the maximum results after 2-3 weeks. Therefore we will request to see you after 2-3 weeks at your follow up appointment. Some clients will require further treatment to enhance the results.
Duration of results can vary from person to person. In general results last for 12-16 weeks.
